Pinched Nerve In Neck

Cervical radiculopathy is commonly described as pinched nerve in the neck. Nerves in the neck gets compressed/irritated referring pain down the arm, between shoulder blades, shoulder, neck area. Apart from pain, neck stiffness, tingling, numbness, weakness, pins and needles could also be experienced. Most common causes of nerve impingement are disc bulge/herniation and bone spurs. Nerves in our neck passes through rigid narrow canals as they exit the spinal cord. When the disc in your neck bulge they decrease the space in the rigid canal or increase the pressure- this leads to inflammation on the nerves. Since the nerve travels all the way down the arm to finger tips, symptoms are not confined to just neck! Poor posture increases the risk of putting undue stress on your nerves. Prolong sitting in slouched posture at work/driving tend to increase the stress coming onto disks in spine. The pressure built up could eventually irritate the nerves referring symptoms down the arm.
